ImageThe advent of climate change has given a strange new wave with the public over awareness of their own actions. There is a deeper and stronger need for everyone, not just corporations, to actually be aware of the impact of each and every one's actions to the environment.

There is this strong idea that is now better established that however small our actions, can make a major impact over time. This whole new line of thought gives empowerment, and even more importantly, an awareness of greater responsibility, not only for oneself, but for the greater good. Social responsibility has always been evident given that community advisers and meetings have been held for centuries now. What is now becoming evident is that we are not only technologically connected, but also environmentally interlaced. This whole new era of understanding states that if we want to protect the environment on our own vicinity, we have to make sure others are protecting theirs, and vice versa.

Social responsibility does entail that there is stronger importance in awareness. As previously discussed, the emergence of a new environmental currency, known as the carbon footprint, gives us a measurable indicator of the environmental impact of any product or action. There has to be a balance in how carbon is managed and what solutions are needed accordingly. When people become aware, they are obliged to take action, positive action , on a viable solution.

The increased awareness on climate change, extinction of species, has brought forth a new and louder noise. We have to choose the right products, use what we need, and lobby for environmental options when possible. It is there, for all of us to see, that if a more environmental option is available, it is chosen as the better product. What matters most now is sincerity, and promoting real environmental products and giving them awareness about its positive benefits now plays to the pure intention of the consumer and the conscience of the producer. Social responsibility is being a Green Consumer.

The Green Thumb Revolution will also have a new found impact with everyone in the midst of bringing something organic back to the community. More parks will be required, and more trees will be planted. New lifestyle demands that there is a balance between progress and nature, there is also a great demand for city planning to be environmentally planned. It has to be holistic.

There is a positive light now played by the media and disseminating these essential information. Over time, we will see better changes coming. In the meantime, let us all do our part and better patch this planet together.
